Default Say NO to UAS

I am hoping that ANet will ignore the constant calls for a UAS button. Many a guild has worked hard to unlock skills for their membership. It would be a slap in the face to just "give away" these skills. Any competent individual could unlock 90% of his skill base with a month's playing (not grinding). Leave it be. There are far more pressing issues.

1. bring back farming
2. keep adjusting the drop rate until the majority are happy.
3. fix the story. get rid of the George Lucas mentallity.
4. create a weapon upgrade vendor.
5. equalize the pvp/tombs/guild hall system so that teams w/closer
records fight each other.

Default UAS or not

Great Suggestions.

I whole-heartedly aggree with these suggestions. Nothing should be given away freely. The one thing I do not aggree with is the statement about grinding.

That must mean that you are doing all the quests outside of those needed to get ascended and lvl20 armor in two weeks...

First of all, I may unlock runes, skills, and weapon upgrades by doing this, but its BORING! A lot of quests require you to group with Human Henchmen Morons. What's more is the fact that if your not lucky enough to get the right drops, the quests reward you with worthless items. Not to say that the experience isnt very good in some of the aforementioned quests, but common! How many quests reward you with some off-hand item or primary weapon that sux so bad you wouldn't be caught dead trying to hawk it in public???

So what, you had fun didn't you? You got the skills before everyone else, you enjoyed it. UAS with all items unlocked as well is the only fair way to have a competitive game - anything else is delusional.

I don't mid it being conditional on beating the game, but once you've beaten the game, unlock everything for PvP. Then again, that will affect ANet's replay value - you need grind to keep people playing... so you open PvE only arenas as well. Those who want to play with their "earned" stuff play there, PvP is played in the other arena. No conflicts, those who want to only play vs other PvE players play PvE arena, those interested in true competitive PvP with no advantages playing the PvP only area, after finishing the game.

I propose a moratorium on UAS discussions until we see the new PvP unlocking system in the new update. Not much point in debating the current system if it's about to be superseded, and we can't debate the new system without either (a) violating an NDA or (b) talking out our behinds.

Besides, this thread sounds more like troll bait than anything. Don't we have enough UAS threads? How about we only use the "New Thread" button to create new topics, and use existing threads to continue existing debates?

UAS? - If you mean against the new point system for the PvP to unlock stuff I have to disagree with you.

I do agree that within a month you can get most of your elites without grinding but having to go through the game multiple times to get the diffrent jobs.

I personally only do PvE myself (not in to PvP). I think this will also help a lot of the Pvp players who are very anti-social on PvE and on a rush to blaze through also improving the PvE environment a bit too.

lol @ "bring back farming". Not only does it screw the economy and cause inflation, but it's mind numbingly boring to do the same thing over and over for hours. No thanks.

I could just start a thread titled "Say NO to Grind" and the universal energies would be balanced.

Sounds like Anet's next update says no to UAS, but gives PvPer's a chance to earn their runes and skills. So far, it sounds good.

Even better idea just remove PVP from guild wars and 99% of the moaners would vanish

And the ecconomy isn't completely screwed up as it is? I've gotten maybe 2 golds the last 2 weeks and 1 of them didn't even have stats on it when Id'd. 9 out of 10 runes at the trader can be bought for 120gp with only 3 or 4 costing a few plat and sup vigor and absorb the only ones costing over 50p. I just destroyed a shitload of runes this morning because I had no use for them. Minors, majors and even a superior one cause they were all worth squat.

Nothing frigging drops anymore, EVER, unless you are in Underworld and that's rare to get in because Korea is hold favor from 8am to 8pm EST.

The only thing fetching ass amounts of platinum now are Storm/Eternal bows that have skyrocketed up over 80-150k.

Guild Wars does not have an ecconomy.

oh, so that the dozens of "talented" teams who have lost matches to 2 rangers, 1 mesmer, and 1 monk will remain "competitve"?

Pathetic.

Guild Wars was not designed to be just PvP *OR* PvE. It was designed as both, and designed very well. The only people who disagree are the people that enjoy playing on ONE type of game (whether PvP or PvE).

If your argument being that "unlocking skills are fun!" or "collecting skills should be one of the main quests for this role playing game!", then it's just a different point of view. Instead, you argue against UAS simply because you feel "unfair" to those who's spent more time on this game? To me, this argument contradicts with one of the core idea of GW (longer time spent in game != advantaged). I read your argument, and I still believe that UAS will bring out the best of PvP and let people manage their own pace at PvE. Yes to UAS.

UAS and UAR are useless terms guys (you dont actually need a magical little button ... thats called the create PVP player) ... also like to note pvpers and pve players can fight in same battle, no need to seperate them ... the focus of alot of us pvp'ers that do go through the game is to customize our character not to look like your flavor. Some of us like to take pride in our character. :-P

better stated that if you create a pvp player ... you should have access to all skills automatically. You dont need to but the player should be limited to the pvp aspects ... ie ... go ahead have runes and skills ... thats pvp ... custom armor and weapons and items should be left to pve. So those who do want to have the pretty 15K waste of money can. Or the godly gold artifact or collector items. If you have UAS ... they should just lvl 20 plain droknars armor sets with level 20 equivalent weapons / offhand item.

If I start hearing pvp whiners ask for a UAA (unlock all armor), UAW (unlock all weapons), UAI (unlock all items), magical button because if you dont want to go through the game then you should be limited to the pvp aspects, leave the custom armor for people who build there characters from birth.

Thats a balance!
